Welcome to the Research Working Group knowledge base. The Intersect Research Working Group operates under the Intersect Product Committee, focusing on advancing research initiatives within the Cardano ecosystem. The Intersect Research Working Group aims to establish a robust research agenda centered on sustainability, interoperability, and security to drive Cardano’s growth.
Through conducting fundamental research in areas like consensus algorithms (e.g., Ouroboros Omega), zero-knowledge proofs, quantum-resistant cryptography, and smart contract functionality, the group seeks to enable adoption, resilience, and education within the Cardano ecosystem.
Cardano Vision A five-year vision for Cardano, outlining research priorities, objectives and proposed application areas under a number of thematic focus areas. This plan is informed by Cardano’s tenets, analysis of the research landscape and stakeholder consultations, reflecting on lessons learned over the past seven years to ensure Cardano reinforces its leadership and worldwide adoption. 2025 Work Program
Finalization of the 2025 work program prioritization which includes specific workstreams aimed at delivering excellence, quality and implementation.
These include objectives, work plans, deliverables and resource allocation ensuring each workstream contributes effectively to Cardano's long-term vision of a robust, secure, and scalable blockchain platform.

Communication & Dissemination
Following community feedback during the 2025 funding campaign, the RWG monthly sessions have been restructured to engage the community more effectively and provide a quorum for strategic research collaboration. To join the sessions on on the first Tuesday of each month, please sign up via the Input | Ouput Research webpage.
