# Apr 25, 2024

The Parameter Committee (interim state) meets on a tri-weekly basis. It discusses all parameters relating to the Cardano protocol including network, technical, economic and governance parameters, providing technical advice and recommendations on updatable parameter settings.

**Remit**

The purpose of the Parameter Committee is to provide technical advice and recommendations relating to the updatable protocol parameters, taking into account economic, security, network and other technical considerations, as appropriate to protect the long term sustainability of the Cardano blockchain.

Updates

* The Committee briefly discussed the observer policy.  Observers will be invited to specific meetings on a case-by-case basis
* The Governance parameter advisory group welcomed Jonathan Kelly as a new member.
* The wording of the PCP-002 recommendation has been clarified in response to community feedback
* The Committee reviewed the proposed initial settings for the Governance parameters.
  * `pvt_motion_no_confidence` - recommended 51%
  * `pvt_committee_normal` - recommended 51%
  * `pvt_hard_fork_initiation` - recommended 51%, \
    with new guardrail proposed that at least 85% of pools should upgrade before the hard fork
  * `dvt_update_constitution` - confirmed at 75%
* The Committee will review the initial settings of the remaining Governance parameters at its next meeting.
